Who writes this
Every article and video on this site is written and produced by Mark Druckmiller, a licensed-since-2010 real estate agent who spent three decades in technology and worked as an incoming lead referral agent at Real Estate One's Michigan corporate headquarters. He publishes under the character Irving T. Duck. His full background is on the origin story page.
How a scam alert is made
- Where cases come from. Reader reports sent to Irving, public consumer complaints, court and county records, agent networks, and widely reported news of fraud in specific markets.
- What we verify. That the mechanics of the scam — how the money moves and how the victim is approached — match multiple independent accounts before we publish it as a pattern.
- What we anonymize. Victim names, exact addresses and anything that could identify a private individual. Dollar amounts are reported as given to us.
- What we will not do. Name a suspect who has not been charged, or claim a specific company is fraudulent without a public finding.
- Corrections. If something here is wrong, email irving@scamrealestate.com and we will correct the article and note the change.

If you are being scammed
Contact your bank immediately, then file reports with your local police, the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and the FTC. Speed matters more than anything else with wire and transfer fraud.
